NYX IN YOUR ELEMENT 'FIRE' AND 'METAL' PALETTES

Happy Monday! I am here to share some photos and swatches of NYX's new In Your Element palettes in Fire and Metal. This post will be short and sweet.. here is the outside of the packaging:

and the two palettes side-by-side (SWOON)

Here is Metal post-swatch...

The Metal palette is not good. There are a few shades that are and I was dying over the shade second from the right but overall these guys are glittery, flaky and seal after just one finger pass. No good. This puppy went back to Ulta!

HOWEVER

The Fire palette is sooooooo gooooooooooooooooood. If you're going to get some of these palettes, the Fire palette needs to be one. The first yellow shimmer (far right) is a bit lacking and the dark shade four from the left isn't as exciting as I expected it would be but the rest are buttery and beautiful.

I'm also interested in the Earth palette but it seemed too similar to Fire to make sense enough for me to purchase it. I bought these two palettes when Ulta was having a 30% off NYX sale so the price tags weren't too out of bounds for my wallet!

ALL 36 NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAMS // NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM VAULT

NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams have been one of my favorite lip products since before matte lip were even "in". They're cheap, come in fun colors and used to be my go-to for night's out when I wanted my lip color to stay on without me having to think about it the whole time. So when NYX first released their SMLC Vault, I was very excited. For $70 you could get every SMLC that has ever been released (there are 36 of 'em). I loved the idea but didn't initially jump for it.

Fast forward to the week of Thanksgiving and Black Friday when NYX released on their Instagram Story that they would be releasing more of them exclusively at Ulta on the biggest shopping day of the year. Seeing as I hadn't paid attention to the vault since it's release, I was confused. Turns out, it was impossible to find this collection of products anywhere. I don't believe in shopping Black Friday or Thanksgiving all that much so I told myself that I wouldn't be getting the vault and maybe I could check Ulta later that weekend for it.

Ulta opened at 6pm on Thanksgiving night. I was in North Carolina with my family and found myself bored at 5:45 so I journeyed over to the store and waited in line to get this puppy. As everyone in front of me in line veered towards the prestige side of the store, I wandered over the the NYX endcap, grabbed the vault and checked out. I was successfully the first customer to check out on Thanksgiving evening.

I still wasn't sold on them. I think NYX should have released the vault with the lip creams in color order so it wouldn't be SO overwhelming. When trying out new colors I hadn't tried before, I found myself frazzled and uninterested suddenly. After being swayed by my Instagram followers (check me out at @beautymunson) to keep the vault, I started the swatching process. I organized everything by color to make it more appealing to us all!

Enough talk. Here they are— all 36 of NYX Cosmetics' Soft Matte Lip Creams:

Let me know if you would be interested in on-lip swatches. For obvious reasons I did not do them for this first giant swatch party but I would be glad to do them for another post in the future. Hope you enjoyed!

NYX LIP LINGERIE IN 'BABY DOLL' AND 'EMBELLISHMENT'

NYX Lip Lingeries in Babydoll and Embellishment on table

…..
Introducing…..
2015's Biggest Disappointment Award…
….to NYX's Lip Lingeries!!

I got swayed into loving these from Mariah from TheGalsGuide and was so so so so so excited for so so so so so long to get these in the mail from Ulta (especially Embellishment) but wow. What a let down. I actually wanted these so badly that I got impatient on Saturday (I got my package the following Tuesday) and searched at FIVE CVS stores around my city and spent a huge chunk of time driving far out from where I actually live looking for these and all of the stores either didn't carry them yet or were reworking their NYX section of their makeup aisle so everything was "in the back" and for some reason were unable to track them down for me back there.

I get my package on Tuesday and I immediately throw on Baby Doll to see how it looks. To my surprise, I actually liked the color on me. I figured I was going to need to exchange it for another tone. It actually looked great but.. as I went to add a second layer since the first wasn't fully covering my lips, I realized the product was sticking to itself. Eventually, my lips were sticking to themselves. Figuring that I was only supposed to be putting one layer of product on, I went to take it off and reapply.

Well. This shit doesn't come off. Not in a "omg wow this stuff doesn't come off even when I eat a sandwich with it!!!' it just didn't come off. Not with water. Not with makeup remover. Barely even with RUBBING ALCOHOL. These seem to be very similar to the Jeffree Star and Anastasia liquid lipsticks (from what I've heard) and maybe I'm just not the type to like these stick-and-stay-on-for-days products but.. I didn't like 'em. Chalk five on the disappointment board. Here are the colors on the lip pre-sticking:

On-lip swatches of nyx lip lingeries in babydoll embellishment

I then figured maybe 'Baby Doll' was just formulated poorly. Nope. 'Embellishment' was just as bad. Which blows because the colors are really cool and I was really digging this line before trying them out. Oh well. You win some, you lose some. These definitely were losers and are going straight back to Ulta where they came from, sadly. I'll leave the severe liquid lipstick trend to the men and women of Instagram.

Have you guys tried any of these Lip Lingeries out? Did you have the same issues I had? PLEASE let me know because I am so baffled!

NYX BUTTER GLOSS IN PEACHES AND CREAM

...oh my. Hi guys. New favorite product alert here!

So I finally jumped onto the NYX Butter Gloss bandwagon because I needed a few bucks more to get free shipping on my most recent Urban Outfitters order. They've started carrying some awesome brands and they're been carrying NYX for a little while now and when I saw the Butter Glosses, I knew what I had to do. With a little research,  I decided on the shade 'Peaches and Cream'.

P&C is a super pretty medium, slightly warm pink. The formula of these glosses is super interesting, too. They're thick but not sticky. The shade that I got (and from others that I've seen from YouTube videos) is also extremely pigmented and a little goes a long way. Since they're so thick they do also have a good wear time!

I have these weird line things in my lips whenever I smile and I can always tell when a product is nice because it'll cover up those lines. It's kind of like a foundation! This totally does that.

I'm not sure which color I'm going to head towards next but I'll be sure to share it once I do get another!

Have any of you guys tried these Butter Glosses? What colors do you own?

NYX ROLL-ON SHIMMER IN 'SALMON'

Hellooo ladies! Today I'm here to talk about a new product that I never dreamt I'd be talking about or even more, own! That product is this NYX Roll-On Shimmer in the color 'Salmon'. I became hip to these things after watching one of LollyDolly128's videos on YouTube (the exact video was this one). When she applied this to her inner corner I almost had to gasp from surprise because I had no idea the payoff that comes from this! A simple roll gives you a perfect amount of color and glitz. These are nothing like the roll-on sticks we had back in the 90's.

messily applied on my lid
I found that although this is super pretty directly after application, the color does wear away quite quickly. Once you roll the color on whether it be on the lid or in the inner corner, be sure not to blend the color with your finger but more pat it into your skin. This will help keep the tone concentrated and not thin it out. These are only $3.99 at Ulta so I have to say for the money, they're a winner. Maybe I should just speak singularly about this shade since I haven't tried the others.. this shade is a winner. Once I gather more shades I'll be sure to tell you all how I like those!

Have any of you guys tried the brighter colors? Hopefully they have a bit more staying power than this guy.

NYX SINGLE EYESHADOW IN 'WHITE'

Ooh la la! Getting around to reviewing a classic today! This eyeshadow has been in my collection for years and not only have I used it all. the. time. but it's barely even had a dent made into it! If you're looking for a matte white shadow to use in your inner corners or as a brow bone highlight, look no further than this one right here.

NYX is just the best. Can we sit and appreciate that brand for a second? They offer such stellar products at such affordable prices. My makeup collection would be pounds lighter without NYX in my life!! Okay. Onto the shadow.

When little Bailey was beginning to get into makeup and watching YouTube gurus, she learned about highlighting. Such a simple task that made such a difference! I was happy to have my Sephora sample eyeshadows from one of my birthday gifts as a tester but I knew that I needed to invest in a real, matte white shadow. Invest I did not! Instead, I skipped over to my local Ulta and got this shadow for only about $4 or $5. My inner corners have never been the same since.

I apply this shadow with a simple e.l.f. shadow brush in my inner corners and it helps elevate your look and looks really, super great when you've contoured your crease as well. Having a transition from light to dark really makes my eyes pop and people always notice whenever I'm wearing it.

Just a basic shadow that does wonders for me and I bet it will for you, too!

Anybody else own this? Is there another awesome white shadow that I should try out?

NYX JUMBO EYE PENCIL IN 'BLACK BEAN'

Yet another little guy to add to my Jumbo Eye Pencil collection! This one's a bit simpler, though.

I finally got around to purchasing the simple 'Black Bean' Jumbo Eye Pencil by NYX so I could layer my MAC blue/brown pigment on top of it. It's just your basic black but as with most of the JEPs, it's super silky and pigmented. These mainly should be used as cream bases or with a liner brush if you want them to be a liner because the pencil is far too thick to create an attractive line. Be sure to prime your eyes prior to use but once you do, this thing isn't going anywhere!

Such a deal ($4.49) for such a great product.

NYX BLUSH IN 'TAUPE'

Finally! Thanks to my finally becoming an Amazon Prime user, I was finally able to snatch NYX's 'Taupe' blush. I have been fiending over this since I began watching Nikkie on YouTube. As a side note, if you don't watch her videos, DO. She is so talented and absolutely hiiiiilarious. You'll love her.

I had heard that this blush was the perfect shade for us ghostly gals for contouring. Until now I have been using Too Faced's Chocolate Soleil bronzer which in all honesty, is still dang good for my complexion. It warms me up enough without making me orange and look terrible. NYX's 'Taupe' is really good strictly for contouring as you won't get much warmth from such a cool-toned product.

It's almost as if NYX made this specifically for contouring as I have absolutely no idea how it could be pulled off as a blush on any skin tone. The issue I had had continually is that Ulta (the only store around me that carries a full-ish NYX line) does not carry this shade. I also wasn't into placing an order on their website for one five buck blush. Another side note, yeah. This is only $5. Crazy!! But finally, as I said, Amazon Prime has saved my butt and I got free shipping and was able to order this through there.

To get a precise contour, I apply this with my Sigma E40 brush to pack the color on and then continue on with a large powder brush to blend it out smoothly. Such a hit for me! So happy with the color.

NYX SINGLE EYESHADOW IN 'RUST'

Oh, my my my.. To start off with today, I have a question to pose. How did we all live pre-NYX?! Like, seriously. They have the best quality products for such a steal, always. Man. I love NYX.

Today I've got a post and review of one of their single eyeshadows in the shade 'Rust'. I have been meaning to buy this for awhile after initially purchasing the Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Rust' and knew that I needed the shadow to complete the look I desired. I only own one other eyeshadow from them and that's just in a matte white so I'm not the most knowledgeable of the products as a collection but just basing off of the product as a standalone, I'm a fan.

As you can see, the shadows are just in a square pan and are shaped into a sort of quilted pattern or design. Again, I can't speak for the entire collection but this shade specifically is very dense and pigmented and applies with ease. I was very pleased with how intense it appeared on my lids especially overtop of the Jumbo Eye Pencil that I talked about.

This shadow was the star of my most recent YouTube video which shows how I completed this look:

If you'd like to watch that video, just click here!

Love you all and thanks so much for reading,

NEW! NYX BORN TO GLOW LIQUID ILLUMINATORS

I am so excited to finally be able to post this! If you follow this blog or my YouTube, you may know that I previously tried to purchase this product in 'Sunbeam' but accidentally bought 'Gleam' (online problem). Ever since then I have been trying to find 'Sunbeam' in my Ulta but it seemed that they were constantly out of stock! Finally I went in the other night to take advantage of their 40% off sale and they. had. it. It practically had an angelic glow around it. I'm not kidding.

The reason that I had not necessarily liked 'Gleam' is because it was too dark for my papery skin. It would be absolutely beautiful on olive skin and deeper. For us whiteys, 'Sunbeam' is perfect! Applied to the top of the cheekbones, these illuminators give a terrific, natural glow. It looks a bit glittery but nothing too gaudy! For only $6.99, I see nothing wrong with giving these a go. I think they're a great alternative for Benefit's Sun and High Beams.

MY NYX JUMBO EYE PENCILS

Hello! Today I've got a collection for you. My NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil collection! I've been a big fan of these pencils for awhile and of course the beginning of it all was 'Milk'. I'd say it's a cult item in the beauty community. There is a huge range of colors so you will be satisfied no matter what you're looking for! If you're looking to wear these all over your lid, definitely put down a primer. I know some people use 'Milk' as a white base and that's probably the only color that you could get away with not using a primer. The rest are far too creamy and will crease in an instant! Don't let that tear you away, though. These guys are a GREAT buy and at only $4.49, they just can't be beat. You will get yeeeeears of use out of just one pencil alone.

Breakdown color-by-color..

Cottage Cheese- Great shimmery white color. I use this in my inner corners and on my brow bone whenever I'm not using 'Milk'! Little bit less dramatic. You could also use it on your cheek bones.

Rust- For years, I have wanted to be able to pull off a smokey, cranberry eye. I still have yet to do it (I've only tried once.. three days ago..) but I am certain that this pencil color is necessary for me to get there! Just need to find the perfect shadow.. maybe the matching NYX shadow?

Milk- Prettttttty self-explanatory.. everybody owns this I feel! Just a creamy white color that brightens up anything that it touches. I've owned this thing for years and man, it's just lovely. Pop it anywhere you need it, be it your inner corner, brow bone, waterline, anything!

Iced Mocha- This is my go-to eyeliner for my lower lash line! It's a super pretty dark, shimmery brown color. Leans a bit coffee instead of chocolate brown..

Sparkle Green- I'm gonna be honest.. I've never used this one. Ever. Don't know why I bought it! It's pretty to look at? Look at the swatch and that's the best I'm going to explain it. It's a dark blue-green with chunks of glitter in it! Not too irritating, though. You can almost barely tell they're there!

Pots & Pans- My go-to silver! Super shimmery, not too metallic but definitely shimmery. When blended out on the eyelid, it sheers out and just becomes a beautiful wash.

Cucumber- I used this on my lower lash line for Halloween this past year when I was Ariel and not only did it stand out like nothing I've ever used before but it kept it's vibrancy all night! ALL. NIGHT! Through my sweaty, up-until-six-AM college Halloween. Seriously impressed.

Yoghurt- I keep getting fooled by this one. I think it's a champagne color and although it kind of is, it's a bit more of a warmer champagne. As you can see in the swatch, it's a bit orangey and pinky. It's a beautiful shade, none less!

Rocky Mountain Green- Guilty to say that I've never worn this color, either. I do like it, however. I've just never found a reason for it. It's just a pretty medium green shade that has the slightest amount of shimmer to it.

Cobalt- This is the blue version of 'Sparkle Green'! Same kind of glitter in it. Just a dark blue, a little lighter than what I would call a true cobalt!

MY NYX SOFT MATTE LIP CREAMS

Hi everyone! I'm trying to slowly start reviewing my products that I've owned for awhile now just to build up a good base on my product review directory! It's on the left sidebar if you'd like to check out what I've already put up on beautymunson and it also has some (coming soon)s!

My items for today are my NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams. They're these super cool lip creams that apply like a velvety gloss and dry to a matte finish. They're a bit of a pain because they wear off fairly quickly (I'd say fourish hours) and leave that dreaded rim around your lips so you have to be sure to bring them with you wherever you go!

I also had the color Tokyo that I only wore once back in school last semester out one night and woke up the next day, realized it was gone. Gone as in left-it-at-a-frat-house-or-some-random-pledge's-car gone. So I was super sad... until I saw the pictures from the night and realized how horrendous it looked on me! So no love lost there.

The colors I DO own are San Paulo, Amsterdam and Addis Ababa. San Paulo is a pretty, natural color that is slightly pink and magenta. I always think that I can pull this off as a my-lips-but-better color but I need to remember HOW pale I am and HOW pale my lips are! Sigh. For you with more pigmented lips, I think this would work fantastically. Amsterdam is one of two red shades of the products, this one being the lighter one. It's a sheerer wash of red that's great as an everyday red since it's not too vampy. Addis Ababa is a darker, magenta pink. Build it up and it becomes a super vibrant color but one coat and it's just a sheer wash of pink.

For my swatches, I had about 2 coats.

Do you like these things? What colors do y'all have 'em in?
