ESSIE 'LAPIS OF LUXURY' W/ OPI 'LAST FRIDAY NIGHT'

Hi there! Long time no talk.. sorry! I've been moving into my apartment at school and the first day of classes was today so I'm officially in the school grind. Now I can make a schedule and keep posting regular for y'all. Today I've got a nail post starring Essie's 'Lapis of Luxury' and OPI's 'Last Friday Night'.

OPI's 'Last Friday Night' is from my beloved Katy Perry's collection a couple of years ago and is a blue-based jelly with iridescent mini and small circle glitters within it. 'Lapis of Luxury' is a darker periwinkle cream.

Above is two coats of Essie's LOL with one layer of OPI's Nail Envy as a base and no top coat.

and the photo above here is just with an added coat of OPI's LFN and again with no top coat.

I've never made this combo before but I don't know why not! It's really beautiful and I love iridescent glitter polishes because it makes your nails sparkle in the sun more than a regular gritty glitter polish.

This mani brings back my memories of that Katy Perry OPI collection and now I'm sad because that collection was just so, so perfect. So many staple polishes were introduced in it! Hope you guys enjoyed and I'll be back as soon as I can with some more content :)

ESSIE 'TART DECO'

Happy Summer, followers!! Is it too late to wish you that? I hope not. It's fitting because today I am sharing with you my favorite nail polish for this Summer. I know the whole 'coral' thing may be old by now but when I find a TRUE coral, I get very happy. I'm not talking a lipstick that says it'll be coral and comes out red.. or hot pink. or a coral top that is bright orange in the sunlight. I'm talking a true, perfectly balanced coral. Like this nail polish!

I know you all know by now my love and devotion to OPI.. it takes a lot for me to stray from them even if it's just for one mani. Tart Deco is definitely a color I'm willing to jump ship for! It's a true, coral creme. I used three coats for the manicure in the photos but can be opaque with just two. For reference, I was wearing OPI's Nail Envy underneath the color on my pointer and middle fingernails. I love that this shade can also easily be used on your toes! Talk about versatile! :)

Anybody else own this color? I'd love to hear your opinions on it!

ESSIE 'ACTION'

Hi guys! Today I have a polish that.. is an interesting one for me. It's called 'Action' by Essie and it came out last summer in a sort of neon collection. It's considered a 'vivid tangerine orange' which I think is pretty spot on. The odd parts come into factor in ways you never would really assume.

One, when I initially saw swatches of this polish I saw a completely different look than I had achieved and that you can see below. I have since learned that this is because those nail blogs all put a white base coat underneath! So let me just start off with the tip to add either OPI's 'Alpine Snow' or Essie's 'Blanc' underneath this polish. Secondly, it dries to a semi-matte finish. Very weird. As with all matte polishes, this one dries super fast which means you have to work super fast! Not necessarily a bad thing just something that you have to look out for. Another is that although this is a mattier (new word?) polish, it's still very see-through. With three coats you can still see visible nail line. Cool for me, however, once you add a top coat it gains this awesome jelly-like appearance and I always love me some jelly polishes!

Enough with my talking, here are some photos:

doesn't really pick up how fluorescent it really is!
two coats OPI 'Alpine Snow' w/ three coats of 'Action'.. seems like a lot but 'Action' is so sheer it's not bad! Again, MUCH more fluorescent in-person.

Once more with some 'Alpine Snow' base coats underneath
in direct sunlight
It's not a bad polish at all! It's just a more.. different experience. Again, be sure to put a white coat underneath! Unless you like the look I have in my photos in which case just use the orange itself because that's what I did to show you all.

Anybody else try this one? It seems to be a huge hit so maybe I'm just crazy! (or maybe that's because I never.. ever stray from my beloved OPI)

KENDRA SCOTT EARRINGS

I'm not sure how I did but I stumbled across a jewelry designer named Kendra Scott a little over a year ago and I've been entirely in love with everything she comes out with. I've yet to own a piece(curses living on the East Coast!! I want to buy my jewelry in person!) but I know so many people who do. She's has quite a large following within the Texan crowd and having gone to school in Oklahoma, I met my fair share of Texans.

Anywho, I'm in love with her. For this post I'm going to focus on her earrings. One of the highlights of Kendra is that she has a color bar where you can fit most of her earring forms with whichever stone(s) you'd like. You could have a different color stone in each spot of an earring if your little heart desired it! You can visit her website here.

See? You can make thousands of different jewelry items! and the best part is that the color bar doesn't cost any extra! You get to choose between gold or silver, too. I have a soft spot for her stone called 'chalcedony' oooOOoooh my goodness is it beautiful! If anybody is ever wondering what to get me.. some Kendra Scott earrings in chalcedony will make you my favorite person ever. Most likely. Yes.

Without any further adieu, I shall post my favorite earrings from the goddess of jewelry that is Kendra Scott.

(L to R: Mariena earrings in rose, Skylar earrings in lilac,
Darby earrings in chalcedony and Melody Chandelier earrings in light blue)

Wow I totally did not mean to go with a pastel theme.. but her lighter colors are so beautiful! She does have a wider range, though. You're just gonna have to check her site out yourself.

ESSIE SPLASH OF GRENADINE + JULEP O CANADA

Not much to report! Break has been pretty boring and I've done close to nothing the entire time. Just a nail update for now!

I'm wearing Essie's 'Splash of Grenadine', a lilac purple creme with some pink and blue undertones. As an accent, I added Julep's 'O Canada' that's just a clear base with small clear, sheeny glitters and a little larger red hexagonal glitter.

Love it!

REDSKINS NAILS

My beloved Washington Redskins have a huge game tomorrow that they could walk out of division champions. Not that big of a deal? Well, we haven't been division champs since 1999, or since I was six years old. So this is major! In honor of the game I will be going downtown with my sister and brother-in-law and I wanted to make sure I am as decked out as possible. Nails included.

So this is where it brings us. My redskins nails! Check below the jump to see my look.

First I just did a single coat of OPI's 'Chick Flick Cherry'. Our main color is burgundy, but this red color has always been my go-to for any darker shade of red because it's just so complimentary of my skin color!

Next came two coats of Essie's 'As Gold As It Gets' from their Luxeffects top coat collection. This is my gold! Makes my look subtle without looking too obvious R-E-D-S-K-I-N-S.

There's the finished look! Just top off with your favorite top coat (mine is currently Seche Vite) and you're all set!

Hail to the Redskins!
