MY (COMPLETED) Z PALETTE

I am so excited to share with you all my very first (completed) Z Palette!!!!

I recently had been getting tired of having so many palettes around and having to choose which was the "most important" when traveling and such. I decided to depot and combine my shadows into my Large Z Palette so I could have everything together.

Unfortunately, I own many Urban Decay shadows. I have learned the hard way that UD shadows aren't designed for depotting and placing into a separate palette. I had a UD-specific palette but it only held six shadows. Most of them have survived thus far but my 'Blackout' lost a chunk out of it the day after I put it in and that was quiiiiiiiite messy.. Urban Decay customer service confirmed that I was not supposed to depot them (oops) but again, so far so good after that incident.

Because I am excessively Type A, I had a photoshop document going as I was filling in the palette to keep track of which shadows are which. You can find it underneath the below photo of the palette:

ABH = Anastasia Beverly Hills
UD = Urban Decay

I organized the shadows in a way that made the most sense to me. Cooler Earth tones on the top, warm sunny shades under that followed by the reds, purples and pinks and lastly the neutrals.

Two of my shadows are Makeup Geek pigments that I put into an eyeshadow pan because I was never, ever, ever, EVER going to use them as a pigment. Pigments are far too messy and difficult to work with but since putting them in my palette, I have used the (now pressed) pigments multiple times.

My favorite shadows in my collection are Makeup Geek 'Chickadee', Makeup Geek 'Magic Act', Urban Decay 'Blackout' and Urban Decay 'Beware'. Not interestingly, they're all warm shades. I've had to force myself to buy more cool-toned shadows in an effort to broaden my eyeshadow horizons.

In another no-brainer, I am the most pleased with all of my Makeup Geek shadows. They have amazing foiled shades and neutrals that blend beautifully.

Below are on-arm swatches that have no primer underneath or anything. Just my bare arm and my beautiful shadows!!!!

Since this post, I have gotten another Z Palette and am separating my shadows by warm and cool tones. Clearly, my cool toned palette is a bit lacking at the moment. Let me know what your recommendations are!

MAC BANGIN' BRILLIANT COLLECTION: I'M INTO IT EYESHADOW

What do you do when you have an awkward $13 left on your Bloomingdales gift card? Buy a single eyeshadow, duh.

I recently purchased "I'm Into It" from MAC's Banging Brilliant collection because it looked like it swatched very similarly to Urban Decay's 'Busted' without the shimmer. I looove Busted but it's shimmery and I prefer it in my crease so we know what that looks like.

After swatching, it appears that I'm Into It leans slightly more red but I really have been digging red shades on the eyes lately so it's not a loss for me whatsoever.

It's one of those purchases that is boring but necessary. I always gravitate to crazy green or orange shades and have seemed to forgotten the importance in everyday colors.

I really like this as a crease shade. I'll be posting some looks soon using it!

LORAC POCKET PRO PALETTE

After a sudden surge of feeling dramatic and creative, I've been playing around with a lot of eyeshadow looks that involve taking the shadow out further out and attempting the "soft wing" trend. My Urban Decay shadows just haven't been cutting it and I realized that I really missed the blendability and depth of my deeper LORAC shadows.

I decided to pick up this lil' baby LORAC Pocket Pro Palette from Ulta. It's the only three shades I would ever need to create a simple, go-to, every day look. In the same shipment I also got a Z Palette. Let's just say… depotting LORAC shadows is a big no-no. They're too soft. I lost a lot of shadow in the depotting process but hey, what can ya do. I definitely didn't want to have to keep track of this tiny mini palette. That being said, I took some pictures before I ruined them for good:

And just because I know that those pictures don't mean anything unless you can see what they look like swatched and applied, here are some photos of these beautiful shadows in action:

It's unbelievable how buttery "Nude" and "Espresso" are. I don't know how LORAC does soft, pigmented shimmery nudes so well but man, they definitely are the best.

This trio has been needing to join my army for awhile and now that they have, they will be stars on days where I don't want to think about my shadow combos. They blend in an instant, complement each other so nicely and pair well with any cheek/lip combo.

MAKEUP OF THE DAY - 07/18/15

Some how in some way I found myself having off on a Saturday! It's definitely a rare occasion so I'm taking full advantage and keeping myself busy— and outdoors— all day. Since I had as much time as I wanted to get ready, I did things a little differently today and played around a bit with some products that haven't seen the light in awhile.

Before
After
I've had a couple of blemishes pop up lately which is usual for my skin in the summertime but they've been nothing that my beloved Pro Longwear concealer can't handle! I hadn't pulled out my Vice palette by Urban Decay in a hella long time so I decided today was the day to give it some love. I created a pretty purple melt across the eye using a few shades and brought back a NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil as well! Check out the products that I used below.

Products used
Eyes
Urban Decay Primer Potion
Urban Decay eyeshadows in 'Rapture' (outer half), 'Provocative' (inner half) and 'Vice' (crease/blending)
NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil in 'Pots and Pans' underneath 'Provocative' to give it something to stick to
Stila Stay All Day liquid eyeliner
Maybelline Colossal mascara (top lashes)
L'Oreal Miss Manga Rock (bottom lashes)

Brows
Urban Decay eyeshadows in 'Secret Service' (darker) and 'Naked' (lighter)

Face
Benefit The Big Easy liquid foundation in 'Fair'
MAC Pro Longwear concealer in N15
MAC Mineralized Skin Finish Natural in 'Light'
MAC Wash and Dry Studio Sculpt Defining Powder in 'Delicates'
MAC blush in 'Melba'

Lips
NARS Satin lip pencil in 'Rikugien'

Also, can we talk about Sephora's birthday gift this year/month/right now?! Two NARS lip pencils?! OMG These are by far the best birthday gifts I've gotten from them and I've been gettin' 'em every year for a looooongggggg time… love love love! BUT that's all I've got for today! I hope you guys like the look and I'll talk to ya next week.

Enjoy your weekend! I know I will mine.
